Just Give me a Sign

Poor woman.  She came to me for a reading,  and the cards just hated the man she had recently started dating exclusively.  She drew The Devil,  Judgment reversed,  10 of swords.

So we spoke for a long time about him and her feelings and how she wants it to work.  The cards were really clear,  and they did not see it working.

And just before we ended,  she said to me that her friends don't like him and her therapist doesn't like him but she wanted to speak to a psychic,  and now I didn't like him (I don't know him! I just told her what the cards told me.)  She feels we are all being unsupportive and she is going to keep seeing him,  anyways.

I felt like I was watching Steve Martin,  the The Man with Two Brains

She's getting all the signs,  she just doesn't want to hear them! I finally told her to come back in 6 months,  and we'll see where she is from there.  I know she is going to be disappointed in him,  but me knowing,  and her believing are two different things...

Trending posts

Every so often I look at my stats and see an old post trending.  A post that was written years ago.  Recently the old post was the 10 of swords. Even though I wrote it in 2010,  for some reason people were looking it up this week.

The 10 of swords is a very strong card.  You don't need to be a tarot card reader to understand it,  it's one of the more visceral cards.

However,  no matter the pain or the despair,  where there is life,  there is survival.  And where there is survival,  there is hope.

We may feel like there are 10 swords in our back,  betrayed and abandoned.  But in the traditional tarot,  a streak of dawn shows.  The worst is over,  now we can recover,  and one day we'll be able to look back and see that we survived.

Some weeks are harder than others,  and maybe that's why people are drawing and then looking up the 10 of swords.  If this is has been your card this week,  I wish you well.

If you want to talk about it, please email (tribecatarotreader@gmail.com) ,  whatsap (liatsilberman) or text me, (+61 477 043 555) and we can set up an appointment.

Remember the Golden Rule

Recently,  in  quite a few of my readings,  people have complained about how unreliable other people are becoming.  Not necessarily just on dates,  but also friends, family, adult children - everyone seems to be hedging their options, saying yes and changing it to maybe,  or just ghosting arrangements.

Covid has had many strange after effects, and NYC was always a city scared to commit,  incase something better came along,  but hey,  let's all try to remember the golden rule - treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves.

I know,  I know,  life is complex,  and we want to do something and say yes and something weird happens and we can't.  But we should immediately tell people that we can't,  and we should look at our lives if weird things are happening too often. Maybe we are overwhelmed,  maybe we are over committing.  Maybe we should have a quiet weekend and do nothing.   Nothing wrong with saying "I'd love to,  but I can't."

And if everyone is flaking on you,  then stop making plans with them!  One woman said then she would never see her friends,  if she didn't make the plans,  and then we both stopped and looked at each other.  So you make all the plans and they flake 50% of the time?  Maybe let them go a while and see if they reach out,  I suggested softly.  And if they never reach out... well what are you willing to tolerate to keep them in your life?  Not this,  she said..

And that's the second Golden Rule.  People will treat you like you let them.  If they treat you badly,  and you stop letting them,  and they are no longer in your life,  well,  that's your answer.

Job A or Job B?

A client who I’ve seen before came to ask me about 2 job opportunities.  I said don’t tell me anything about either job, just really think clearly about Job A and then Job B. And the cards did what we all like best – they gave astoundingly clear results.  For Job A he ended with the 10 of swords and for Job B he ended with the world.  Just by looking at the cards,  anyone can see which job to take!

And then he told me the jobs – Job A was working at a startup for virtually no money, very high risk, no safety net and Job B was a solid corporate job in a creative field, with full benefits and 401K.
I laughed and said thank goodness I didn’t know so it didn’t sound like I was deliberately steering him to the more conservative/safer option.  We laughed but he acknowledged that he didn’t have a safety net, there was no family money to fall back on, and the risks of Job A failing and then he being left with nothing were too real.  He was so glad that the cards supported him taking the option he really wanted but had been fearful that it was too limiting.  He left the reading determined to take Job B.

I like to know as little as possible at the beginning, but once the cards are drawn, the more I know the better I can interpret them.
