Recording the readings

When I do a reading,  we cover a lot of information very quickly.  The cards glide through your fingers and my words pour out.  I encourage people to record the readings,  because I don't always remember verbatim what was said.  And if you don't want it,  you can delete it, no loss.  But if you do want it,  and I can't recall the exact wording,  it's gone.  

As I am doing the reading online,  you can have the reading in the peace and quiet of your own home,  and can record easily.  (another problem was when I was doing recordings in cafes,  sometimes the background noise would overwhelm)

I've had a lot of feedback where people tell me they didn't really understand what the cards meant,  but upon listening to the recording,  they saw it more clearly.  Or they would listen to it 3 months later and see the predictions unfolding.  

I have clients who listen so often,  they say my own phrases back to me.  I have clients who never listen and have stopped recording.  Either way is good,  whatever serves you best.

Slowing down to the speed of life

It's a New York way of humble bragging,  to say how busy you are,  or to say how many things you have to do.  In a city of so many options,  it really is easy to fill every available moment with work or activity.  Sometimes it can be hard to find time to just sit and be.

One thing I love about tarot readings is that it is a dedicated hour - no other phone calls or texts intrude.  In fact,  I encourage people to record the readings and ask if they get lots of texts and if they do I tell them to put the phone on air plane mode,  as texts and calls,  even unanswered ones,  can disrupt the recording. 

So it's an hour without distractions,  where we just focus on you and your questions.   A lot of people tell me afterwards how nice it is to just give yourself the time to sit and think about things like if you are on the right path,  and if your actions are getting you the results you want.

Inspiration

I always encourage people to record the readings.  But after each reading I also give you a postcard and write the cards you drew on it.

 

You can then go and look up any cards on my blog (or any other blog) and I often asterisk the important ones.  I encourage people to find certain ones and print them up and put them by their computers, to remind them of our discussion.

Recording the readings

I always permit people to record the reading. I’m so old, that I used to record readings on those awful cassettes, that looped out or tore, or we forgot to turn over, or the player didn’t work… I’m so grateful for smart phones!  I also tell people that my fantasy is that no one ever listens to the recordings, but it can help people settle and focus during the reading.  However the other day I did a reading and got this very sweet note afterwards – 

As I was leaving the cafe, I decided to listen to the recording and I realized that my questions were in fact answered but I just didn't get the answers that I wanted to hear.  Replaying the recording brings an unexpected sense of comfort… I really do appreciate you for being completely honest with me and not giving me false hope. 

And when I asked her if I could quote her she replied I think everyone who has the reading with you should bring a recorder.  Having it made my session so much more valuable- as I was able to replay some of the most profound points you made and ponder accordingly. I'll always have it to use as a guide and a confidence booster of sorts when I need the comfort and guidance.

I love that the readings can give comfort and clarity long after they have been given… so please, bring your phone or recording device…
