Before taking on commitments ask these 3 questions

When someone asks you to do something for them,  ask yourself these three questions:

Can I do it?

Am I willing to do it?

Will I feel resentment if I do it?

I think these questions are so important.  There are things I can't do,  things I can do but am not willing to do,  things that just make me feel resentful. If I feel resentful or not willing,  is the outcome worth it?

Recently I did a complicated government form application,  which relied on me having done several other simpler government form things earlier in the year.  I had to do it, there was no one else who could do it for me.  So I broke it into the smallest possible tasks and started with them.  As things grew more complex,  at least I had all the simple stuff done and accurate.  It took me over 6 months,  and then it was done.  I did feel exhausted and resentful during the process,  but then afterwards,  I felt overwhelmingly grateful that it was done,  done well,  done successfully.

Sometimes people ask for help and I have to say,  I'm so sorry,  I just don't have the bandwidth for that now.  Sometimes people ask for help,  and I say,  sure,  let's do it now.  But I do ask myself these three questions.  And if I will feel resentment,  I ask myself what other options do I have?  Can I deal with this feeling? Is the end result worth it?  If it's not,  then don't do it!

Questions

A while ago I did a reading for one of my repeat clients - a woman in her 40's with great energy, a bright smile,  but work situations had not been easy for her.  She kept drawing the Page of Cups R,  she feels out of sync,  they don't 'get' her,  she offers her quirky,  out of the box sensibility and they just look puzzled.

So one day she comes and asks,

Should I wait till I finish my MBA before changing jobs?

And she drew

Fool R / Strength / King wands R

The fool never means you are being foolish. Rather it is the start of a new journey,  the very first card of the tarot,  where you walk out with a song in your heart and you don't know where you are going.  But her fool is Reversed.  She is not progressing,  and she is not journeying.  Instead, she feels stuck.

She is strong and capable,  there is no doubt about that,  but her King of Wands,  fiery, passionate,  outgoing, is also reversed,  her bright energy dimmed,  her anger growing. So I said,  no,  stop waiting.  Waiting is blocking you and slowing you down.  Rather,  turn your Fool the right way around,  and move forward,  then your king will also turn and you'll have the kingship you deserve.

She liked that very much,  she knew her job was pulling her down,  but was scared to move with so much on her plate,  but the job was not easy and her plate was already too full,  a new job could actually energize her more.  She did change jobs and it did work out better for her.

That's why I like repeat clients.  I get to see how the tarot was used and if the predictions worked!

King of Wands

Like the Ace, the King of Wands is the pinnacle of the wands – so the King is fiery, bold, creative, and energetic. You certainly notice him when he enters a room, he has that kind of charisma. And while he may sweep you off your feet, or ignite a new passion in you, like the knight, he is not always good at the detail, and you may be left wondering what happened.

This is a man who needs new adventures and highs to keep the momentum going. He is that wonderful boss, a powerful natural leader who inspires the troops, but not necessarily the best husband (unless you are the Queen of Wands, then you are more than a match for him!) If you are in a wands marriage, it’s fiery, tempestuous and passionate and that’s how both of you like it. However if one of you is wands and the other is not, that can cause problems…

One way to read the King is that you are playing with fire. Of course heat facilitates all kinds of transformations, and we need it. But make sure you are protecting yourself and not getting burnt.

All Tarot Kings are about outward energy and focus. The wands King is a particularly actions oriented guy. This card is about having the confidence to take the leap forward. Use this energy while it is around you as it is a strong, bright flame and it can serve you well.
